Dialogue event: Amphibians in the Körnerteich
Originally created as a rainwater retention basin, the Körnerteich is visited for local recreation. However, very few people know the amphibians that live there. Since 1998, NABU Berlin has erected its annual amphibian protection fence to prevent the toads from being run over on the road during their migration to the Körnerteich pond. Since then, committed residents have been carrying the animals safely across the street. After a sharp increase in the population in the first few years, a downward trend can now be clearly seen.
