Book launch at the Berliner Naturkundemuseum: What is evolution?

The Museum für Naturkunde Berlin and Arena Verlag cordially invite you to the exclusive book premiere of ‘Evolution - From the Origin of Life to Today’, written by the scientists Sarah Darwin and Eva-Maria Sadowski, on Friday, 13 September 2024 from 10:00 - 11:45 am. After the reading, there will be an opportunity to talk to the authors and have the book signed.

What is evolution? How does it work? And why is it so amazing? Scientists Sarah Darwin and Eva-Maria Sadowski provide answers to these questions and many more in a non-fiction book for children aged 10 and older. The book begins with the theory of natural selection, which was first introduced by Sarah's great-great-grandfather Charles Darwin and his colleague Alfred Russel Wallace. Readers can find out how bees, orchids, pigeons and dogs evolved from the first bacteria to modern humans. This beautifully designed book combines all the information on the subject of evolution that one could wish for in order to understand the past and use this knowledge to shape the future.

The authors:
Sarah Darwin studied art and natural sciences. Her speciality is in botany. Her great-great-grandfather is Charles Darwin. The relationship between humans and nature is particularly close to her heart. She lives and researches in Berlin.

Eva-Maria Sadowski is a palaeobotanist, i.e. she researches plants that lived a very long time ago. She is mainly interested in plant remains that are encased in amber and lives and researches in Berlin.

Further information about the event
The event is suitable for children aged 10 and over, families and adults and begins at 10.00 am with the book presentation followed by a Q&A session and get-togethers with the authors. There will be an opportunity to have the book signed from around 11.30am. 

The event is free of charge. After the event, the exhibitions can also be visited free of charge. Please register at info@mfn.berlin
