Nightingale excursion on Twitter

Nachtigall
bis

Following the characteristic song of the nightingales in Berlin, we go live on Twitter with biologist Kim Mortega from the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin. Join us on a morning excursion at Volkspark Friedrichshain in order to go on a search for the singing areas of the talented singers.

In spring, Berlin presents itself as the capital of the nightingale. Thousands of the singing birds settle in gardens, parks, railway tracks and even at busy crossroads from Grunewald to Pankow and thus contribute to the biological diversity of Berlin's urban nature.

With the Naturblick app you can record and determine the songs of the nightingales. The Citizen Science project Forschungsfall Nachtigall has already received thousands of nightingale songs from citizens, which are now being researched. Are there preferred breeding areas and what distinguishes them? Do nightingales avoid light or noise? Are there regional differences in the nightingale's song? As a citizen scientist, also you can help to answer these questions.
