Anja Friederichs is the curator of our collection of arachnids and millipedes and gives live insights into her work on Instagram.
With around 250,000 objects, the collection is one of the largest and historically most important of its kind in Europe, divided into 20,600 wet preparations, 7,400 dry preparations and 27,300 micropreparations. The collection also includes smaller collections of wood spiders and horseshoe crabs.
As a conservator, Anja Friederichs knows the historically and scientifically valuable objects in the collection like no one else. Live on Instagram, you will learn, among other things, how she receives the collection objects for posterity and current research, how the different types of preparations differ and which highlights our spider collection has in store.
